Who is Marlon Reeve?

Bob Malone (Head of YAMAHA Trumpets in the US) and I developed and designed the Inter-Change-A-Bore clarinet barrel. It’s unique design and use of bronze in the barrel bore gives it the fastest response of any clarinet barrel on the market. The barrel has a very balanced tone color and great intonation.
As many of you know I now live in Beijing China and have a small factory where I make woodwind instruments. My “Almost Keyless Saxophones” are used in the study of the overtones series by saxophonist.
These “Almost Keyless Saxophones” extend the Siguard Rascher keyless saxophone concept to the next level.
These saxophones are available in straight soprano, alto, tenor and a Low A baritone.
Repairman
For over 40 years I worked as a saxophone & clarinet repairmen in the United States. During my 30 years in Los Angeles I am happy to say my clients included some of the world’s most outstanding saxophonist, clarinetist and woodwind doublers.
For a short while I worked with Francois Kloc at Buffet setting up the Buffet clarinets and Keilwerth Saxophones and
believes Francois to be the best oboe and clarinet repairman he ever met.
Musician
As a founding member of the “Hollywood Clarinet Quartet” I played with great musicians like, Lee Callet, Don Markese and Bev Dahlke. We performed at the International Clarinet Convention in Flagstaff as guest of the YAMAHA Corporation. The Quartet recorded one CD “On the Cool Side” with original quartets and arrangements by Dan Higgins.

Photography in one of the great loves of my life. I have taken CD Photos for Dan Higgins, Michael Paulo,
Bev and Greg Smith , Bob Sheppard, Brandon Fields and the Bobby Shew(the most requested poster form YAMAHA for a couple years straight) and Alan Goodman posters for YAMAHA.
I have produced a line of posters that will soon be in this website.
Movie Producer
For a brief while I worked in the movie business and no one can understand why…. including me……..
I produced some low budget action adventure films.
“Run for the Border” and a couple other very forgettable films.
My good friend Wilt Chamberlain and I had a film production company called
“100 Point Films” named after Wilt’s legendary points scored in a single game.
We had several projects in pre-production….
but due to the early death of Wilt the company was discontinued….
Actor
(and I know this is a insult to real actors as I am more like a bull shit artist)
Calling myself an actor is really stepping over the boundaries of reality…. I did a few bit spots and had a lot of fun.
I had a very small side line in “Lush Life” with Jeff Goldblum and Forest Whitaker. I played baritone in a recording session and set between Jeff and Forest so I got a little camera time. Very little….
I played a drunk in a couple low budget movies one for my friend Murray Langston (The Unknown Comic) with Linda Blair. It was fun.
Another video with my friend Ruth Buzzy where I played an ambulance driver taking her out of a house in a straight jacket.. the other guy playing the same part was telling me how I should play the part. I told him it was our only job not to drop her on her head. She was kicking and screaming all the way out the door. It was all I could do not to drop her. No time for acting… the way I got the part is Ruth asked me if I would do it… she needed someone that she thought would not drop her… I guess she thought since I am large to say the least I would not drop her…. and I did not.
I have had a very interesting life to say the least. I have as you ca see done many things from playing in Rock & Roll bands in the mid 60’s after getting out of the Army to being a bartender. I really enjoy doing different things… I love photography which I mentioned, I really had a good time making movies, I liked being a repairman ( the only drawback was never getting enough time with the instruments.. everyone is always in a hurry ) and am now having a lot of fun designing new products. I am 65 years old and just started getting Social Security… never thought I would reach this age but I did and am still having fun.
Old is not the greatest … but you can still have some fun and do some good.
You just can’t do as much or do it as fast…..
